Bold proportions define the 2026 Atlas exterior, starting with an illuminated front grille that announces your arrival. The LED headlight system includes Adaptive Front-light System technology, automatically adjusting beam patterns for mountain driving and city streets around Chilliwack. Silver roof rails provide mounting points for kayaks, bikes, and cargo boxes essential for Fraser Valley adventures.
Wheel options include 20-inch Atlanta machined alloy wheels on Highline models and 21-inch Din machined alloy wheels on the Execline trim. Both wheel designs handle diverse road surfaces from Highway 1 to backcountry trails. The panoramic power sunroof extends across all three seating rows, flooding the cabin with natural light during scenic drives through Harrison Hot Springs or the Cascade Mountains. LED taillights provide clear visibility to following traffic, while dark tinted rear glass adds privacy for passengers and cargo.
The Atlas cabin accommodates seven passengers across three rows of seating. Second-row seats feature 60/40 split-folding design with "Easy Access" mechanisms for smooth third-row entry. Heated front and outer rear seats warm occupants during cold Fraser Valley mornings, while ventilated front seats provide cooling comfort during summer camping trips.
Highline trim includes leather seating surfaces, 10-way power driver seat with memory settings, and 8-way power passenger seat adjustability. Execline trim upgrades to premium leather with massage functionality for enhanced comfort on longer journeys. Interior ambient lighting offers 30 colour options to set the cabin mood. Aluminum door scuff plates protect entry points while brushed stainless steel pedals add sporty details. The cargo area features a 115V power outlet for powering camping equipment or tailgate gatherings.
The 2.0 TSI turbocharged engine produces 269 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque, providing strong acceleration for highway merging and mountain passes. Fuel economy reaches 11.0 L/100 km combined, balancing performance with efficiency for daily commuting and weekend getaways. The 8-speed automatic transmission includes Tiptronic manual mode for drivers who want direct gear control.
Standard 4MOTION all-wheel drive automatically transfers power between axles based on traction needs. This system proves valuable on wet coastal roads and during winter weather in the Fraser Valley. Driving Profile Selection lets drivers optimize vehicle behaviour for different conditions, while ECO mode maximizes fuel efficiency during longer trips. The start/stop system shuts down the engine at traffic lights and restarts seamlessly when ready to move, reducing fuel consumption in stop-and-go traffic.
Technology features centre around a 12.0-inch touchscreen running the "Discover Pro" navigation system. Wireless App-Connect eliminates cables while supporting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration. The 10.25-inch Volkswagen Digital Cockpit Pro displays driver information in a customizable format.
Audio entertainment comes through the Harman Kardon Premium Audio System with 10 speakers plus subwoofer for clear sound reproduction. Wireless charging keeps compatible phones powered without cluttering the cabin with cables. Voice control handles basic functions hands-free, while SiriusXM satellite radio provides commercial-free entertainment options. The myVW mobile app connects to myVW+ services, enabling Remote Start, vehicle health monitoring, and alert notifications. Multiple USB Type-C ports throughout the cabin ensure all passengers can charge devices during travel.
Two trim levels offer different equipment levels while maintaining the Atlas's core capabilities. Both versions include 4MOTION all-wheel drive and comprehensive safety features as standard equipment.
Volkswagen has not yet announced official Canadian pricing for the 2026 Atlas. The Atlas is expected to maintain its competitive positioning in the three-row SUV segment while continuing to offer strong value with standard 4MOTION all-wheel drive and comprehensive safety features. Official pricing information will be released closer to the vehicle's arrival at Canadian dealerships.
